History of Technology and Manufacturing Processes
Metafoam's basic technology comes from a discovery made at the Industrial Materials Institute (IMI) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). In 2001, IMI-NRC developed a new metal foam production process which alleviates the constraints of conventional processes. In sum, the IMI-NRC process leads to the highest specific surface area in the metal foam industry due to the unique microstructure of this material.
Since then, Metafoam has signed an exclusive license to commercialize this innovation and has filed its own patent applications for its technology and manufacturing processes.
